Frequently asked questions.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary healthcare system that uses a holistic approach to discover the root cause of illness and disease. It is patient-centered medicine where your doctor will work with you to create an individualized plan to lead you into optimal health. In order to get to know you as a whole person, the physician may take extra time in the initial visits learning about your work, life, diet, medical history and social habits. In addition, you should expect a thorough physical exam to make sure your body is working smoothly and narrow the diagnosis. Our goal is to get to the root of a problem and tackle it. Along the way, we will identify and troubleshoot any problems that may come up so that you can start feeling better faster. Dr. Maximo combines clinical judgment with empirical evidence to decide which modalities are most appropriate for your care. This may include botanical medicine, dietary advice, labs, bloodwork, referral to specialist, pharmaceutical medications, lifestyle modifications, counseling, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, homeopathy and nutritional supplementation.
What if I already have a diagnosis like PCOS or endometriosis?
We will work with you whether you have an official diagnosis or not. For fertility, we often work with women who have PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome, as well as endometriosis and irregular periods. Our mission is to correct underlying hormonal imbalances that contribute to and worsen some of these conditions.
What if I am already working with a reproductive endocrinologist?
Great! We are happy to work with other providers on your medical support team in order to help you reach your dreams. We will communicate directly with any other provider so that you do not need to be caught in the middle. You’ve got enough on your plate! An integrative team of fertility experts can bump you up to superstar level of support.
Will you support me through IVF or FET?
Absolutely! We believe there is a time and place for all levels of care. We happily and proudly support women undergoing both FET (frozen embryo transfer) and IVF (in vitro fertilization) to help improve results.
Do you work with men and women?
Of course!
Is there anyone you won't work with?
We believe firmly that everyone deserves the chance to become a parent. Everyone. No matter who you are, we are here for you. If you want to have baby, we will do everything we can to support you along the way.
Do you take insurance?
We require payment at the time of service for all appointments. We provide you with all the paperwork to submit to your insurance to get reimbursed. The amount of reimbursement depends on your individual insurance plan.
I am over 40. Can I still work with you?
While it is true that ovarian reserve typically tends to diminish with age, depending on who you are and what your markers say, there can still be much to be done! Schedule a discovery call and we will help decide if you are a good candidate for our approach.
How long do these programs (The Fertility Fix) usually take to get pregnant?
Many patients follow the Fertility Fix approach for 4-6 months. While some couples graduate early, others may need a bit more time and support. We will stick by you and support you as much as you need.
